Hello friends! Last time I blogged we were living on the Pacific Coast getting ready to move to Toronto, now we’re here and adapting to life in the big city! I (Maria) have not lived here for almost 15 years however I’m enjoying the vibe very much, while Markus has lived here most of his life and is excited to be back. Things seem to be moving fast here, which is one of the many reasons why we relocated. Don’t get me wrong, I love the west coast and it’s my native home, however for the next few years we’ve planted ourselves in Canada’s largest metropolitan centre to take advantage of the economic and arts benefits.
The last time I resided here I had just finished my undergrad at Ryerson University. Since arriving back to Toronto, I have received confirmation that I have been accepted to graduate school and will be spending the next 2.5 months preparing to start my Masters of Arts degree in Communication and Technology. I chose the University of Alberta after 1.5 years of research and investigation. There are a number of reasons for this; their graduate framework would allow me to direct my unique thesis study, I was able to do the majority of my study online with 1 residency per year giving me the best of both worlds, the university is known to be a leader in research and is pushing innovation, it is in a place I have never been before allowing me to form fresh memories and experiences, allows me to study part-time around my work, and is affordable.
The program will directly benefit our clients. This degree will benefit our Startup business idea as I will become a more critical thinker while also serving my clients with more cutting edge solutions. I will be mentored by some great professors who will assist me in becoming a better teacher as well. It’s a perfect combination and an exciting time.
We’re also excited to attend some of the Enterprise Toronto seminars held at City Hall to take advantage of the many wonderful tips for startups. We loved our experience at Business Victoria and was excited to give our very first seminar there in December, and we want to stay in touch with the community while making new contacts here in Toronto and Edmonton in the near future. In addition to the many big changes occurring you will also notice our theme upgrade V 3.0. We think you will like it! Now that we’re settled, we’re excited to hear from you!
